I've accepted a position as an Assistant Professor in the Biology Department at Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio, starting Fall 2017. I'm excited to begin building a lab and research program that provides undergraduate students training opportunities in cutting edge ornithological research!
I'll be giving the University of Montana Division of Biological Sciences, Organismal Biology, Ecology, and Evolution noon seminar Wednesday, 12 October. Join us in Interdisciplinary Sciences Building, room 110, to hear me talk about my research on predation and flight in birds.
I've been invited to participate in a symposium on avian evolution at this year's Congreso Colombian de Ornitología in Medellín, Colombia, November 8-11 2016. I'm looking forward to great conversations and research on tropical ornithology!
I'm conducting field research in Borneo in collaboration with Tom Martin's lab and field crew. We're working at Kinabalu National Park in Malaysia. I'm studying how predation risk affects flight development in baby birds.
Follow the University of Montana Flight Lab facebook page for updates, photos, and videos from the field!
I'll be giving U Montana's Organismal Biology, Ecology, and Evolution noon seminar on Wednesday, September 23. Come hear all about bird flight, genomes, island biography, and museum collections! More info can be found on the Division of Biological Sciences website.
I've been offered and have accepted a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Montana Flight Lab working with the great Bret Tobalske. I'm thrilled to be moving to Missoula, Montana, in early August. I can't wait to get started on the functional avian ecology research we're planning!
I successfully defended my dissertation. My fantastic committee of Chris Witt, Jim Brown, Blair Wolf, and Jeff Long gave me great tips on how to improve manuscripts for publication, and we had a fun philosophical and theoretical discussion about island evolution. Thanks to those who came out to hear my seminar.
I will be defending my dissertation on 16 April 2015 at 11am. The defense will be at the University of New Mexico in Castetter Hall room 51 and is open to the public. Please join us to hear all about my dissertation research!
